Medium Size Featherweight 100% Pashmina Pumori Shawls
Superfine diamond weave cashmere
The shawls on this page are handloomed Medium-Size Pumoris, approximately 28 inches by 80 inches, or 71 by 203 cm. If you are looking a somewhat larger version, 36 by 80 inches or 91 by 203 cm, please visit our Fullsize Pumori page.
Pumori is our name for what the Nepali producers refer to as "superlight" or "diamond weave." The yarn is much finer, and the fabric is extremely tight-woven, which means a lot more work for the weaver. Despite the somewhat gauzy look (especially under flash lighting), the shawls are amazingly warm. They are light enough to be worn as a scarf without seeming bulky -- in fact, they are often worn two at a time.
Note that the colors in our photos are not necessarily an exact representation of the actual colors. The flash tends to lighten the colors -- and also makes the shawls appear more translucent than they would in natural light.

Everest Base Camp. This photo is taken from Kala Pattar,
Pumori's southeast ridge, at a position from which British climbers
in 1951 spotted a viable route to the summit of Everest.
